Jaide Dawson, MD is a medical doctor, visual artist, and creative/scientific writer. She has completed extensive training in science, medicine, and the arts and has a profound appreciation for each discipline, alone and together.
Dr. Dawson’s professional interests include maternal-fetal nutrition, in utero morphogenetics, and neonatal-perinatal medicine. During medical school, she focused her clinical, community, and research efforts to better understand fetal and neonatal care. She received academic distinction in Medical Ethics, Humanities, and Law, primarily focusing on maternal and infant health equity, community health, and neonatal ethics. As such, she strives to improve fetal and infant health through preventative care, clinical medicine, and advocacy. Currently, she is completing a combined medical residency in Pediatrics & Medical Genetics.
Prior to her career in medicine, Dr. Dawson trained as a visual artist and creative writer at an integrative performing and visual arts school in Cincinnati, OH. There, she studied art history and fine arts, and developed skills in several visual art mediums, including oil and acrylic painting, ceramics, digital design, and classic graphite drawing. Whenever possible, she merges her deep understanding of physiology and medicine with her fine arts training to create elegant, detailed, and accurate medical illustrations.
This website serves a hub for her medical work, illustrations, and creative musings (i.e., writing). All thoughts and opinions are her own and are not reflective of the institution at which she currently trains. All work, professional and creative, are original and her own.
